If you want the ability to infuse Fall flavor into any and every beverage at your fingertips, you have GOT to make this Homemade Pumpkin Spice Simple Syrup!
With only three ingredients and in just ten minutes, this Fall favorite pumpkin recipe is on annual rotation in my fridge. And because it lasts in the fridge for up to a month, you’ll be hard-pressed not to put it in just about everything you drink!
Delicious in your morning coffee, to add to hot chocolate, but also in some Fall-flavored cocktails like this Pumpkin Spice Mule and Pumpkin Spice Margarita.
As a champion of eco-friendly practices, I love making my own syrups and spice blends. Food preservatives, like pesticides, are harmful to the environment as they contain toxins that are harmful to plants, animals, and soil.
Homemade syrups and spice blends with all-natural ingredients allow you to avoid preservatives. Plus, you can reduce the amount of extra pesky plastic containers!
Green tip: Despite recycling efforts, the sad truth is that only about 9% of plastics are recycled, leaving the rest to become microplastics.

Pumpkin Pie Spice Simple Syrup Tips and Tricks
How to Make Simple Syrup
Making your own simple syrup at home is as simple as dissolving sugar in water. Typically, when I make plain simple syrup with water and granulated sugar, I use a 1:1 ratio of water to sugar.
However, since we are trying to dissolve a lot of spices into our water and sugar to give this simple syrup a pumpkin spice flavor, we are going to use a little more water than usual.
I also highly recommend using brown sugar in this simple syrup as it lends a nice caramel taste and blends really well with the pumpkin pie spice.
This is a super easy 3 ingredient recipe that utilizes already-made pumpkin pie spice. You can easily buy it pre-made or make your own pumpkin pie spice.
Add the water, brown sugar, and spice to a saucepan and bring to a boil.
How to Dissolve Sugar and Spice in Water
Once the water mixture is boiling, turn the heat source down so it is lightly simmering. Then, continue to simmer for about 3-5 minutes, whisking occasionally until all of the sugar is dissolved.
It’s important to note that spices will never completely dissolve into water, so our goal is just to mix them in to distribute as evenly as possible and to infuse the syrup with tons of flavor.
This also means that over time, the spices will settle to the bottom of your syrup. Always shake the syrup before use.
How to Store Pumpkin Spice Syrup
This specialty simple syrup will last for about a month in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Once your simple syrup is all ready, transfer it to a heat-safe jar with a lid, and allow it to come down to room temperature naturally.
Green tip: Did you know that of the billions of pounds of food wasted annually, it is estimated that 50% of it happens in our homes? It’s always best to avoid food waste as much as you can!
Once it’s room temperature, you can place your jar of simple syrup in the refrigerator for later use. Shake before pouring it in your coffee, tea, or cocktail.
How to Use Pumpkin Spice Simple Syrup
This stuff is liquid gold and transforms any beverage into a festive fall treat!
I use it in cocktails like this Pumpkin Spice Mule, Pumpkin Spice Margarita, and Pumpkin Spice Old Fashioned. It’s also the easiest way to make a Pumpkin Spice Latte.
You can also add it to this Iced White Chocolate Mocha to add some extra Fall flare, or stir it into your cold brew, hot coffee, or tea!
You can also use this in place of maple syrup of waffles or pancakes!
