If you want to uplevel your breakfast wrap to epic status, you’ve got to smother it in this Breakfast Burrito Sauce. Creamy, citrusy, and with just the right amount of spice, this stuff not only complements, but elevates your burrito!
Plus, this sauce for breakfast burritos is super easy, requiring just 3 ingredients and 5 minutes (if not less!) to make! Without a doubt, my favorite accompaniment to this Vegetarian Breakfast Burrito.
As a proponent of a sustainable lifestyle, I love making my own sauces!
Green tip: Making your own sauces and syrups is a great way to avoid extra plastic packaging that eventually ends up in landfills or makes its way into the environment and becomes microplastics
Breakfast Burrito Sauce Ingredients
Here’s everything you need:
- Mayonnaise or Greek Yogurt.
- Lime juice.
- Taco seasoning.
How to Make Simple Sauce for Breakfast Burritos
Mix Everything Together
Add the mayonnaise or Greek yogurt, lime juice, and taco seasoning to a bowl. Use a whisk or fork to combine.
You should be left with a smooth and creamy sauce.
Tailor it to Your Taste
Taste the sauce to see if you want to add any extra lime juice or seasoning. If you want a little extra heat, you can add cayenne pepper.
The biggest plus to making homemade sauce is the ability to tailor it exactly to your taste, so take advantage!
Thin it Out
You may find the sauce to be a little too thick for your liking. If that’s the case, you can easily thin it out with some fresh water.
Add just a dash at a time, while whisking, until you are happy with the consistency.
Serving Your Breakfast Sauce
This sauce was created specifically to pair with breakfast burritos, but that doesn’t mean it’s not delicious with other things!
It’s also super tasty over a breakfast bowl like this Savory Quinoa Breakfast Bowl with Veggies and simply drizzle over a plate of soft scrambled eggs.
How to Properly Store Homemade Burrito Sauce
This sauce lasts for 1-2 weeks in an airtight container in the fridge. It’s best served cold or at room temperature.
I don’t recommend freezing this sauce.
