Refreshing Sangria Moscato with Rum

This Sangria Moscato is a refreshing take on white wine sangria, balancing the sweetness of Moscato with tart citrus and apple.

Ingredients

  • 1 large grapefruit
  • 1 large green apple
  • 1 large lime
  • cup dark rum
  • 750 mL Moscato 750 mL = about 3 cups
  • 1 cup sparkling water
  • 2 cups ice
  • ¼ cup simple syrup optional

Instructions

  • Wash and cut your grapefruit, apple, and lime into quarters. Add your fruit to a large pitcher.

  • Add the rum (and if you would like added sweetness, the simple syrup) and use a large wooden spoon to stir, pressing down on the citrus to muddle it and extract the juices.
    ⅓ cup dark rum, ¼ cup simple syrup
  • Add your Moscato, sparkling water, and ice. Stir with your spoon and serve cold.
    750 mL Moscato, 1 cup sparkling water, 2 cups ice

Notes

  • Moscato is naturally really sweet, so this recipe does not call for any extra sugar. If you love your sangria super sweet, you can always add 1/4 cup of simple syrup.
  • I love how the dark rum mellows out the sweetness of the Moscato, but you can absolutely use light rum if you prefer.
