Cut about 1/4 inch of rind off the bottom of your watermelon and discard, so it can easily stand on its own. Then cut about 2 inches off the top of your watermelon, exposing the juicy pink flesh.
1 large watermelon, whole
Stand the watermelon upright, and use a large spoon to carve a hole in the center of the pink flesh, leaving about an inch or two of flesh around the outside (see pictures above).
Scoop out the innards of the watermelon in the hole you made, and set them aside to enjoy later (maybe in this Watermelon Margarita!). If serving from the watermelon with the kit, core a hole about 3 inches from the bottom of the watermelon and insert and secure your faucet.
Add the vodka, wine, and simple syrup to the hole in your watermelon.
750 ml dry white wine, ⅓ cup vodka, ¼ cup simple syrup
Wash your lemon and lime, cut them in half, squeeze the juice into the hole in your watermelon, and then drop the peel and pulp in, too.
1 large lemon, 1 large lime
Replace the top of the watermelon and allow to sit for about 10 minutes, to allow the watermelon flavor to seep in.
Enjoy over ice!
